Defending the Annual Fund

Annual giving is a cornerstone of fundraising, but it’s often the necessary evil that donors look down upon. They want to invest in growth, in sustainability, and in the future. Many donors perceive annual giving as a license to be inefficient.

But those unrestricted dollars serve critical needs (such as emergencies, or say, light bulbs). Sometimes you can budget for these, and sometimes you can’t. But they’re often crucial to keeping your organization going.
